...A large archaeological site located in the area from Todoi-cho to Takakura-cho in Atsuta-ku, Nagoya City, spanning the early to middle and late Yayoi periods, and even the Kofun period. It was discovered in 1898, and is famous in academic history for the fact that in 1908 Tokusaburo Kagiya confirmed and reported the coexistence of Yayoi pottery and stone tools. Excavations were carried out by the University of Tokyo's Anthropology Department in 1943, and Nanzan University in 1954. Takakura-cho contains a shell mound from the early Yayoi period, where a mixture of early Yayoi pottery from Western Japan and Jomon-style striped pottery was excavated. The middle Yayoi period was mainly found in Todoi-cho, and in the late Yayoi period, the relic layer spread throughout the entire area. ...
