A former town in Nishiyatsushiro County, central Yamanashi Prefecture. The northwestern part is a lowland of the Fuefuki River, and the main settlement is Ueno, through which the Minobu Line passes. The town operates a diversified agricultural business, growing rice, fruit, and vegetables. In October 2005, it merged with Ichikawa Daimon-cho and Rokugo-cho in Nishiyatsushiro County to become Ichikawa Misato-cho in Nishiyatsushiro County. Area: 29.47 km2 . Population: 4,205 (2003).
