A former town in Nishiyatsushiro County, central Yamanashi Prefecture. The northwestern part is a lowland of the Fuefuki River, and the main settlement is Ueno, through which the Minobu Line passes. The town operates a diversified agricultural business, growing rice, fruit, and vegetables. In October 2005, it merged with Ichikawa Daimon-cho and Rokugo-cho in Nishiyatsushiro County to become Ichikawa Misato-cho in Nishiyatsushiro County. Area: 29.47 km2 . Population: 4,205 (2003). 山梨県中部，西八代(にしやつしろ)郡の旧町。北西部は笛吹川の低地で，主集落上野があり身延(みのぶ)線が通じる。米，果樹，野菜の複合農業経営を行う。2005年10月，西八代郡市川大門町，六郷町と合併し町制，西八代郡市川三郷町となる。29.47km2。4205人（2003）。
