Wang Pu

...It is said that the beginning of the Tang Dynasty was when Su Mi (So Bian) compiled the systems of the nine dynasties from the beginning of the country to Emperor Dezong and compiled the 40-volume Tang Huiyao (Essays on the Tang Dynasty) at the end of the 8th century. Then in 853 (the 7th year of the Great Interval), Yang Shaofu and others compiled the 40-volume Continued Huiyao (Essays on the Tang Dynasty), and in 961 (the 2nd year of the Jianlong Interval), Wang Pu (Wang Pu) based them on the above and compiled the 100-volume Tang Huiyao (Essays on the Tang Dynasty) with 514 items, which is the one that still exists today. The contents, ranging from the title of the emperor, the imperial system, the temple system, to the government system, taxation system, and foreign countries, are almost equivalent to the aspirations section of the official history, but they are much more detailed and are the fundamental historical material for understanding the political system of the Tang Dynasty. ...
