Japanese: 活貧党 - かっぴんとう

An armed group of peasants active in central and southern Korea at the end of the Yi Dynasty. Following the Gapsong Peasant War (1894) and the Ilmi Righteous Army Uprising (1895), invasions and the destruction of people's livelihoods became increasingly serious, and armed struggles by peasant groups known as the Fire Bandits, Donghai Bandits, and Namhak bandits began all over the country. The Kabbinto was one of these. It first appeared in Chungcheong Province around 1899, and continued to appear in various parts of central and southern Korea until around 1904. It upheld a platform for saving the country and keeping the people safe, including the abolition of bad laws and a strict ban on foreign merchants, and was active in punishing corrupt government officials, confiscating the property of the wealthy and distributing it to the poor, etc.

李朝末期の朝鮮中･南部で活動した農民の武装集団。甲午農民戦争(1894)や乙未義兵闘争(1895)ののち侵略と生活破綻がいっそう深刻化する状況のもと，全国各地で火賊，東匪，南学などと呼ばれる農民集団の武力闘争が展開されたが，それらの一つが活貧党である。1899年ごろ忠清道地方に出現し，1904年ごろまで中部および南部朝鮮の各地に出没した。悪法の廃止，外国商人の活動厳禁など救国安民の綱領をかかげ，姦悪な官吏をこらしめ，富民の財産を没収して貧民に分配するなどの活動を行った。
