Japanese: 水窪[町] - みさくぼ

A former town in Iwata County in northwest Shizuoka Prefecture. Most of it is mountainous in the southern Akaishi Mountains. The town is centered on Oku Ryoke along the Mizukubo River, a tributary of the Tenryu River, and is served by the Iida Line. Forestry is the main industry, but tea is also produced. Electricity and automobile companies have established operations here. Nishiura's Dengaku Noh is famous. In July 2005, it was incorporated into Hamamatsu City along with Tenryu City, Hamakita City, Haruno Town in Shuchi County, Sakuma Town in Iwata County, Tatsuyama Village, Maisaka Town in Hamana County, Yutome Town, Hosoe Town in Inasa County, Inasa Town, and Mikkabi Town. 271.28 ^km2 . 3,613 people (2003).
