Located in Fukushima City, formerly known as Shinobu Takayu. At the eastern foot of Mt. Azuma, at the northeastern entrance to the Bandai-Azuma Skyline. This hot spring is perfect for sightseeing, with a great view of the Fukushima Basin and Mt. Ryozen, and in winter the area becomes a ski resort. Gypsum-containing alum hydrogen sulfide spring. 41-49°C. Records of bath fees from 1595 remain, and in the 17th century the management of bathhouses was by bidding. 16km west of Fukushima Station on the Tohoku Main Line, and buses run there. 福島市にあり,旧名信夫(しのぶ)高湯。吾妻山の東麓,磐梯吾妻スカイラインの北東入口に当たる。福島盆地,霊山(りょうぜん)の展望のよい行楽温泉で,冬は一帯がスキー場となる。含石膏ミョウバン硫化水素泉。41〜49℃。1595年の湯役銭の記録が残っており,17世紀には湯小屋の経営が入札制となっていた。東北本線福島駅の西16km,バスが通じる。正式には高湯という。
