Misaka Mountains - Misakasanchi

Japanese:
Misaka Mountains - Misakasanchi

A rugged mountain range stretching from the east to the south of the Kofu Basin in Yamanashi Prefecture. It gradually increases in height from the southwest of Otsuki City in the east, passing through Tsurugatoyayama (1,374 meters), Misakayama (1,596 meters), and Kurodake (1,793 meters), before turning south near Sanbobunzan (1,432 meters), extending further south from Tenshuyamachi, and gradually decreasing in height from Chojagatake (1,336 meters). The geology consists of Neogene Miocene sedimentary rocks, submarine volcanic eruptions and pyroclastic rocks, and plutonic rocks mainly consisting of granite. There have been many collapses in the mountain range due to active fault movement, and there have been cases of major disasters. However, the south side of the main ridge is within Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, where the view of Mt. Fuji is magnificent and there are many hiking trails. On the other hand, on the northern foot of the mountain facing the Kofu Basin, there are a group of alluvial fans that form part of the fruit belt of the Kyoto East. The mountains were a barrier to the Kofu Basin and a traffic hindrance, but they are connected to Shizuoka Prefecture by the Chuo Expressway and National Route 137.
