The nature of the magazine changed significantly during two periods: when Prezzolini served as editor-in-chief until December 1914, and when fellow literary critic Giuseppe De Robertis (1888-1963) took over as editor until its final publication in December 1916. Prezzolini, who was strongly influenced by Croce's anti-positivism, aimed to provide a forum for discussion among intelligent and sincere people, even if they held different ideological positions, in order to resolve the various contradictions inherent in Italian society before World War I. ...
