Tayu and head of Joruri Kawato-bushi. First generation. Founder of Kawato-bushi. Real name Ito Tojuro. Son of a fish merchant in Nihonbashi, Edo. Loved music and studied Handayu-bushi. 浄瑠璃河東節の太夫、家元。初世。河東節の祖。本名伊藤藤十郎。江戸日本橋の魚商の子。音曲を好み、半太夫節を学ぶ。さらに式部節、手品節を参酌し、享保元年(一七一六)河東節を樹立。貞享元~享保一〇年(一六八四‐一七二五)
