A French classical scholar. His real name is unknown, so even in France he uses the French form of his Latin name, Adrien Turnèbe. After studying in Paris, he became a member of the Royal Faculty in 1547, succeeding J. Toussaint Toussaint, and in 1551 also became director of the Royal Press. He mainly studied ancient Greek poetry, and published an edition of Aeschylus' tragedies in 1552 that competed with the work of the Italians F. Robortello and Vettori (Victorius).

フランスの古典学者。本名が不明のためフランスでもラテン名のフランス語形Adrien Turnèbeを用いる。パリで勉学した後，1547年トゥサンJ.Toussainの後任として王立教授団の一員となり，51年からは王立出版所の監督も兼ねた。主として古代ギリシア詩を研究し，52年に出版したアイスキュロスの悲劇作品の校訂本は，イタリアのロボルテロF.Robortelloやベットーリ(ウィクトリウス)の仕事と競合するものだった。
