Makalu [mountain] - Makalu
A high peak in the Himalayan ranges of northeastern Nepal, bordering China, in the Chomolungma (Everest) mountain range. It is 8,463m above sea level. It was first reached by a French team in 1955. This was the first time that a full team had summited an 8,000m peak. A Japanese team also reached the summit in 1970.
