A Twelver theologian, philosopher, and mystic. Nicknamed "Ṣadr al-Muta'allihin, Chief of theosophists," he perfected Persian-Islamic thought by integrating Twelver theology with Ibn al-'Arabi's Wahda al-Wujud (the unity of being), Suhrawardi's Eastern philosophy of illumination, and Islamic mysticism. As a result of years of meditation based on mystical asceticism, Mulla Sadra came to see the Absolute Being as "ḥaqīqa nūrānīya," the radiant Truth.

十二イマーム派の神学者，哲学者，神秘主義思想家。〈神智学者の長Ṣadr al‐Muta’allihīn〉とあだ名された。十二イマーム派の神学とイブン･アルアラビーのワフダ･アルウジュード(存在の単一性論)および，スフラワルディーの〈東方照明哲学〉，そしてイスラム神秘主義とを総合させたペルシア･イスラム思想の完成者である。神秘主義修行道に基づいた長年の瞑想の結果，モッラー･サドラーは絶対者である神を〈輝ける真実在ḥaqīqa nūrānīya〉として観照する。
