Japanese: 鳳閣寺 - ほうかくじ
Hokakuji Temple
The head temple of the Hōkakuji school of Shingon Buddhism, located in Torizumi, Kurotaki Village, Yoshino County, Nara Prefecture. The mountain name is Hyakurazan. Its correct name is Hōkakuji Shingon - in. It was founded by Shobo in 895. It is said that En no Ozuno built a stupa and called it Mantōzan Tosu -an . It is the main training center for Shugendo. It has been a place of prayer for successive emperors since Emperor Uda.

奈良県吉野郡黒滝村鳥住にある真言宗鳳閣寺派の大本山。山号は百螺山。正称は鳳閣寺真言院。寛平七年(八九五)聖宝(しょうぼう)が開創。役小角(えんのおづの)が卒塔婆を建立し万塔山鳥栖庵(とすあん)と称したともいう。修験道の根本道場。宇多天皇以来歴代天皇の祈願所。
