Miró, G. (English spelling) MiroG

…Spanish Civil War
[20th Century Culture]
This historical progression from the early 20th century to the Spanish Civil War is also strongly reflected in the trends of the latter half of the Silver Age (1902-36) mentioned above. First, the Generation of '98, which played a role in connecting the first and second halves of the Silver Age and had a great influence on later Spanish culture, can be summarized as follows: philosopher and novelist M. de Unamuno, writer R. de Maestu, novelist P. Barroja, musician Granados, writer Valle-Inclán, prose writers Azorin and Gabriel Miró (1879-1930), poets M. Machado and A. Machado brothers, and JR Jimenez. What the Generation of '98 had in common was that they took the end of Spain's Golden Age seriously, and after examining the essence of Spain, they carefully considered two paths: choosing the path of renewal or seeking a way out of Europeanization.
