Kumano River [town] - Kumanogawa
A former town in Higashimuro County in the southeastern part of Wakayama Prefecture. Occupying the mountainous region of the Kumano River basin, the town is primarily involved in forestry, producing a lot of timber and konnyaku (a type of jelly). It is home to the Totsu River basin and Doro Gorge. The Kitayama River basin is part of Yoshino-Kumano National Park. Incorporated into Shingu City in October 2005. Area: 175.47 km2 . Population: 2,081 (2003).

和歌山県南東部，東牟婁(ひがしむろ)郡の旧町。熊野川流域の山地を占め，林業を主とし，木材の産が多く，コンニャクも産する。十津川流域と瀞(どろ)峡がある。北山川流域は吉野熊野国立公園の一部。2005年10月新宮市へ編入。175.47km2。2081人（2003）。
