A type of Kabuki dance. It is a dance adaptation of the Soga Kyogen (→ Sogamono), and depicts a showdown of strength between Soga Goro, who rushes to meet Kudo Suketsune, his father's enemy, wearing armor, and Kobayashi Asahina, who grabs the armor's kusazuri and stops him. There are also works in which Asahina is played by a female character such as Wada Maizuru or Kewaizaka no Shosho. The origin can be found in the Kōwaka dance piece "Wada Sakemori," but the prototype for today is the kabuki play "Tsuwamono Kongen Soga" performed at the Edo Nakamuraza in 1697. Many works have been created since then, but only two remain: "Shosatsutsuki Nemoto Kusazuri" and "Kikuju no Kusazuri" (commonly known as "Ikioi"), which has been handed down as a dance introductory piece for children.

歌舞伎舞踊の一系統。曾我狂言 (→曾我物 ) を舞踊化したもので，親のかたき工藤祐経との対面に，鎧を片手に駆けつけようとする曾我五郎と，その鎧の草摺をつかんで引止める小林朝比奈の力比べを描く。朝比奈の役を和田舞鶴や化粧坂 (けわいざか) の少将といった女役で演じる作品もある。原拠は幸若舞曲『和田酒盛』に求められるが，今日の原型となったのは元禄 10 (1697) 年江戸中村座の歌舞伎『兵根元曾我 (つわものこんげんそが) 』である。以降多くの作品が生れたが，現存するものは『正札附根元草摺』と，子供のための舞踊手ほどき物として伝承される『菊寿の草摺』 (通称『いきおい』) の2曲のみ。
