A neighborhood organization within a village under the Ritsuryo system. It was modeled after the Tang Dynasty system. It was called Goho because it was made up of five neighboring families. It was considered a subordinate organization of a village (village) consisting of 50 families, and they were required to share responsibility for maintaining public order, mutual assistance, paying taxes, and repaying debts. The Goningumi of the Edo period is considered to be a revival of Goho. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
