This refers to a tomb with paintings and other art on the walls of the tomb chamber. In Egypt, murals were painted on the burial chambers of royal tombs from the end of the Old Kingdom, and the practice gradually developed until by the New Kingdom, not only the walls but also the ceilings of the burial chambers were covered with paintings and hieroglyphics. It was also practiced in Etruria from around the 6th century BCE, and was also seen in Rome and the Hellenistic world, but this article describes mural tombs in East Asia, mainly China.
