It is located 5km south of the 38th parallel and 9km east of Kaesong City, almost in the center of the Korean Peninsula. It was once a small village on the Gyeonggi-gaido road between Seoul and Sinuiju, called Nolmun-ri, but became known worldwide after the military armistice agreement of the Korean War was signed here in 1953. It is still the site of armistice talks, the Special Military Liaison Committee between North and South Korea, and the North-South Red Cross Talks Center. [Fish pond] The photo was taken from the South Korean side. The building in the background is the North Korean facility "Panmun-gak." The blue building in the foreground is the Military Armistice Commission meeting hall, and the concrete military demarcation line can be seen on the ground between them.
