...The Magellanic penguin S. magellanicus (illustration) lives in the southern tip of South America. The remaining nine species live in cold waters, mainly in the sub-Antarctic region, but of these, the king penguin Aptenodytes patagonicus (illustration), the gentoo penguin Pygoscelis papua (illustration), the rockhopper penguin Eudyptes chrysocome (illustration), and the macaroni penguin E. chrysolophus (illustration) are relatively widely distributed on the sub-Antarctic islands. The Yellow-browed Penguin ( Megadyptes antipodes ) (illustration), the Yellow-browed Penguin (Fiordland Penguin) ( Eudyptes pachyrhynchus ), the Brown-browed Penguin ( E. sclateri ) (illustration), the Long-billed Penguin ( E. robustus ) (illustration), and the Pygmy Penguin ( Eudyptula minor ) (illustration) are found in the waters mainly in southern New Zealand.
