Occlusive dressing treatment

Japanese: 密封療法 - みっぷうりょうほう（英語表記）occlusive dressing treatment

A method of using topical agents such as ointments. It is also called occlusive dressing therapy or ODT. When topical agents are applied to the skin, the water, alcohol, and some of the lipids evaporate over time, so the agent loses its function as a base for percutaneous absorption of the active ingredients relatively quickly. In addition, topical agents can come off due to mechanical friction or bathing. Therefore, a new therapy was devised in which topical agents, mainly in a cream base, are applied to the affected area and then tightly covered with plastic wrap.

軟膏など外用剤の使用方法の一つ。閉鎖包帯療法またはODTともいう。外用剤を皮膚に塗布すると，水分やアルコール，脂質の一部は時間とともに蒸発していくので，その中に含有されている有効成分を経皮吸収させるためのベースとしての機能が比較的速やかに失われる。また機械的摩擦や入浴で外用剤がとれてしまうことも起こる。そこで，おもにクリームベースに入れた外用剤を患部に塗った後，ラップフィルムでぴったりおおってしまう療法が考案された。
