Anti-military speech issue

Japanese: 反軍演説問題 - はんぐんえんぜつもんだい

"Anti-military" refers to opposition and criticism of the military and military policies, and in this sense includes the speech of Hamada Kunimatsu (the so-called "Harakiri Mondo") in the 70th Diet (January 1937), but generally refers to the speech of Saito Takao in the 75th Diet. Saito, who represented the Minseito Party in a plenary session of the House of Representatives on February 2, 1940, comprehensively criticized China policy, saying, "To say that the 'China Incident' can be resolved by the Konoe Statement, which advocates a new order in East Asia, is ignoring reality and ignoring the sacrifice of the people under the beautiful name of a holy war? I do not think that the Wang Jingwei government that is about to emerge has the power to shoulder the future of China. The government is spending huge amounts of money on mobilizing the national spirit, but the people do not even understand the purpose of this incident."
