Kankan Musa (English spelling)

The name of the king of the Mali Empire, which flourished in the 13th and 14th centuries in the interior of West Africa. Mansa was the title of the king, and he was also called Kankan Mūsā. He is thought to have reigned in the first half of the 14th century.
