A city in central Osaka Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1959. Stretching from the Habikino Hills to the Ishikawa River basin, it was developed as a residential area from the end of the Taisho period, and after the war, public and public housing was built, and it has developed into a residential city, and its population continues to grow. Furuichi, the center of the city, has long been a strategic location where the Takeuchi Kaido and Higashi-Takano Kaido cross paths, and the Kintetsu Minami-Osaka Line runs through it, and it branches off from the Kintetsu Nagano Line. There are industries such as sake brewing, food, and paper containers, and the city produces fruit, especially grapes and strawberries. There are many ancient tombs, including the tomb of Emperor Ojin, and ancient shrines and temples such as Konda Hachiman Shrine, Sairinji Temple, and Nonaka Temple. The Hanwa and Nishi-Meihan Expressways run through the city. 26.45 km2 . Population 117,681 (2010).

大阪府中部の市。1959年市制。羽曳野丘陵から石川流域にわたり,大正末期から住宅地として開発,戦後は公営・公団住宅が建設され住宅都市として発展,人口増加が続いている。中心の古市(ふるいち)は古くから竹内街道と東高野街道の交差する要地で,近鉄南大阪線が通じ同長野線を分岐する。酒造,食品,紙器などの工業があり,果樹,特にブドウ,イチゴを産する。応神天皇陵など多くの古墳,誉田(こんだ)八幡宮,西琳寺,野中寺などの古社寺がある。阪和,西名阪自動車道が通じる。26.45km2。11万7681人(2010)。
