Papier mâché (English spelling) [France]

Papier mâché (English spelling) [France]
It is a fluid material made by mixing pulp (paper pulp) with chalk, adhesive, sand, etc. It is poured into a mold and heated to solidify. It is mainly used for furniture and furnishings, and the surface is polished smooth and then lacquered or painted. To further enhance the decorative effect, it can be inlaid with blue shell or lacquer. This material originally originated in the Orient, but first appeared in the West in France in the 17th century and was introduced to England in the late 17th century. Later, in 1772, Henry Clay of Birmingham invented a panel made by adding adhesive to several sheets of special paper, heating it, and molding it into any shape, and obtained a patent for it.
