Haneyama

This mountain is located in the southwest of the Kusu Basin in western Oita Prefecture. It is 1,140 meters above sea level. It is a double mesa with the Mannenyama lava layer (upper spring) measuring 3 kilometers east to west and 500 to 600 meters north to south, resting on the pyroxene-bearing andesite lava layer (commonly known as the lower spring) at an altitude of 600 to 900 meters. There is a colony of Miyamakirishi flowers on the summit, and the view of the surrounding area including Koju and Aso is excellent. It is included in the Yaba Hita Hikosan Quasi-National Park. It is a three-hour walk from Bungomori, Era, and Hikiji stations on the JR Kyudai Main Line, which travels around the foothills, and there is also a motorway.

大分県西部、玖珠盆地(くすぼんち)の南西側を限る山。標高1140メートル。標高600～900メートルの含輝石安山岩の溶岩層（俗称下バネ）の上に、東西3キロメートル、南北500～600メートルの万年山溶岩層（上バネ）がのる二重式メサ。山頂にミヤマキリシマの群落があり、九重(くじゅう)・阿蘇(あそ)など四周の展望がよく、耶馬日田英彦山国定公園(やばひたひこさんこくていこうえん)に含まれている。山麓(さんろく)を巡るJR久大(きゅうだい)本線豊後森(ぶんごもり)・恵良(えら)・引治(ひきじ)各駅から徒歩3時間、自動車道もある。
