Nonel (English spelling)

The name of an explosive detonation system developed by the Swedish company Nitro-Nobel around 1970. A special explosive is applied to the inside of a thin plastic tube, and the propagation of the explosive's detonation is used to detonate a special detonator attached to the main explosive. This is a non-electrical detonation method. The previously widely used method of detonating explosives using electric detonators was prone to accidental detonations due to stray currents, lightning, static electricity, etc., and failure to detonate due to electrical leakage, so this method was developed as a way to prevent such accidents.

スウェーデンのニトロ･ノーベルNitro‐Nobel社が1970年ころに開発した爆薬の起爆システムの商品名。細いプラスチック製のチューブの内面に特殊な爆薬が塗布してあり，この爆薬の爆轟の伝播（でんぱ）を利用して主爆薬にとりつけてある特殊雷管の起爆を行う非電気的起爆法。従来広く行われている電気雷管による起爆法は，迷走電流や雷，静電気などによる不時の暴発，漏電による不発などのおそれがあったが，そのような事故を防止する方法として開発された。
