Spanish alchemical philosopher from 1240 to 1311. His French name was Arnaud de Villeneuve. He was educated in theology, philosophy, law, and medicine in Paris and Montpellier, and was fluent in Latin, Greek, Arabic, and Hebrew, and wrote many excellent works on alchemy. His most notable work is The Rose of the Philosophers. He also worked as a doctor in Barcelona for a time.
