Nomura Securities [Stock] - Nomura Shoken

Japanese: 野村証券[株] - のむらしょうけん

The top of the four major securities companies and one of the world's leading securities companies. It was established in Osaka in 1925 when the securities department of Osaka Nomura Bank (now Daiwa Bank) became independent. It was founded by Nomura Tokushichi, the second generation who built the Nomura zaibatsu. However, Nomura's securities business began in 1903 with Nomura Tokushichi Shoten (now Osakaya Securities). It was originally established as a specialist in public and corporate bonds, but in 1938 it began stock trading and in 1941 it became Japan's first investment trust company. It absorbed Daiichi Securities in 1943 and Kubota Securities in 1944.

四大証券のトップ，世界でも有数の証券会社。1925年に大阪野村銀行(現，大和銀行)の証券部が独立して大阪に設立された。創業者は野村財閥を築いた2代目野村徳七。しかし野村としての証券業は1903年，野村徳七商店(現，大阪屋証券)が始めている。当初，公社債専門業者として発足したが，38年に株式売買業務を，41年には日本最初の投資信託業務を，それぞれ開始した。43年に第一証券，44年に久保田証券を吸収合併。
