Funaki, Azumigawa Town

…The Lake Upper Barrier was established at the mouth of the Azumi River in Omi Province, in Funaki, Azumigawa-cho, Takashima-gun, Shiga Prefecture, and on the eastern shore of Lake Biwa in Funaki, Omihachiman City. In 1382 (Kōwa 2/Eitoku 2), the transportation of annual taxes from the Rinsenji Temple estate in Kaga Province, Ono-sho, was held up at the Goshū Lake Upper Barrier, and the shogunate ordered the barricade officials to investigate and allow the taxes to pass through.
