Negishi

Japanese: 根岸 - ねぎし

An industrial area in eastern Kanagawa Prefecture, spanning Naka Ward and Isogo Ward in Yokohama City. It is located on the southwest slope of the plateau that makes up Honmoku Cape, overlooking Negishi Bay. After the port of Yokohama opened, it was developed into a residential area, and Japan's first Western-style horse racing track was built there. The former site of the race track is now a forest park. The entire coast has been reclaimed, and an oil base is located there.

Negishi

This area is located in the northern part of Taito Ward, Tokyo. The name comes from the fact that it is located at the foot of the cliffs of the Ueno Plateau. During the Edo period, it was known as a quiet villa area and many writers lived there. After the Meiji period, Shiki Masaoka and Fusetsu Nakamura also lived there. It is still a residential area today.
