Born on February 9, 1869. Worked in the Education Department of the Taiwan Government-General's Office, and became a professor at Taipei Imperial University in 1930. Researched Taiwanese and the language of the Takasago people. Received the Imperial Academy Prize in 1946 for "Collection of Legends of the Takasago People of Taiwan in the Original Language" (co-authored). Died on November 20, 1947, at the age of 79. Born in Iyo (Ehime Prefecture). Graduated from Imperial University. Other works include "Japanese-Taiwan Dictionary" and "Taiwan-Japan Dictionary."
