A tiny insect belonging to the Thripidae family of the order Thripidae. Its body length is 1.1-1.4 mm, and it is light yellowish brown to yellowish brown. Its antennae have seven segments, with the first segment being light yellow, the second, sixth and seventh segments being yellowish brown, and the third to fifth segments being light gray with a light base. It reproduces parthenogenetically, and males are rarely found. It is distributed all over the world, and can be found throughout Japan. It lives on the flowers and leaves of various crops such as onions, chrysanthemums, cucumbers, melons and tobacco, as well as other plants, and is known as an agricultural pest. It occurs throughout the year in greenhouses, but in the field it repeats 5-7 generations from spring to autumn, and it occurs most frequently during the hot and dry period of July and August.
