Internal Affairs Bureau

Japanese: 内局 - ないきょく

As opposed to an external bureau, it generally refers to the internal bureau of an office or ministry, but can also refer to the internal bureau stipulated in Article 7 of the National Government Organization Act. As for internal bureaus, an office or ministry has a secretariat and a bureau to carry out the affairs under its jurisdiction. These secretariats or bureaus can also have departments if necessary. These secretariats, bureaus, and departments can also have divisions or equivalent offices. The secretariats of agencies and committees can also have secretariats, bureaus (only for agencies whose chief is a Minister of State), divisions, divisions, and offices. Note that the establishment of these secretariats, bureaus, and departments and the scope of their affairs were previously matters of law, but the 1983 amendment to the National Government Organization Act made them matters of government ordinance.
