A former town in Toyoura County, western Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is centered in the basin of the midstream of the Koya River, and the main settlement, Nishiichi, is a regional market town on the right bank of the river. It operates as an agricultural and forestry town. It has the dammed lake Toyoda Lake, Sekibashira Valley (a scenic spot and natural monument), Mt. Kuruson with Shuzenji Temple (a scenic spot), and the Koyagawa Genji firefly habitat (a natural monument). In February 2005, it was incorporated into Shimonoseki City along with Toyoura County's Kikugawa Town, Toyoura Town, and Toyokita Town. 163.47 km2 . 6,840 people (2003).

Toyoda [town]

A former town in Iwata County, Shizuoka Prefecture, occupying the left bank of the lower Tenryu River. The Tokaido Main Line runs through it. It borders Hamamatsu City to the west across the river and Iwata City to the east. It produces greenhouse melons, tea, green onions, and tomatoes. In April 2005, it was incorporated into Iwata City along with Fukuda Town, Tatsuyo Town, and Toyooka Village in Iwata County. 19.82 km2 . Population: 28,994 (2003).

静岡県,天竜川下流域左岸を占める磐田(いわた)郡の旧町。東海道本線が通じる。西は川をはさんで浜松市,東は磐田市に接する。温室メロン,茶,ネギ,トマトを産する。2005年4月磐田郡福田町,竜洋町,豊岡村と磐田市へ編入。19.82km2。2万8994人(2003)。
