Syngonanthus

...It is a specialty of Mie, Aichi, and Shizuoka prefectures. The genus Syngonanthus includes about 200 species, and is distributed in Central and South America and tropical Africa. One species, S. elegans Ruhl., is native to South America, and is sold as dried flowers with flower heads dyed red, yellow, blue, etc. under the name of star flower.
