Metal electrode

...The surfaces of metal electrodes and carbon electrodes are covered with oxides in an oxidizing atmosphere, but functional substances are chemically bonded or strongly adsorbed to such electrode surfaces to provide a field for electron transfer and new electrode functions. The first modified electrode was created by Miller LL Miller et al. in 1975.
