Tokelau [Islands] - Tokelau
An archipelago consisting of three atolls in the southwest Pacific, north of the Samoa Islands. In 1877 it became a British colony and was part of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, but in 1948 it became part of New Zealand. The main product is copra. Since the 1960s, migration to New Zealand has been encouraged. 12 km2 . 1,609 people (2004).
