A method in which a print is made on paper coated with a special adhesive (transfer paper), which is then attached to an object and peeled off to create a pattern. It is also called decal printing. It is used when printing on curved surfaces that cannot be printed on directly, or on fragile objects. For example, painting on ceramics, curved metal products, wood, and glass products. Offset lithography is often used for printing on transfer paper. [Ryutaro Yamamoto] Source: Shogakukan Encyclopedia Nipponica About Encyclopedia Nipponica Information | Legend |
