Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations

This treaty was created by the United Nations International Law Commission to codify and clarify the rules of international law regarding diplomatic relations and privileges, which had previously existed mainly in the form of customary law. It stipulates the duties of diplomatic missions, the privileges and immunities of missions from jurisdiction, and the privileges and immunities of diplomatic agents. The International Law Commission began deliberations in 1954 and produced the final draft in 1958. A conference on diplomatic relations was held in Vienna from March 2, 1961, with the participation of 81 countries, and as a result of deliberations, the treaty was adopted on April 18. It came into force on April 4, 1964.

国連国際法委員会が，従来主として慣習法の形式で存在していた外交関係および特権に関する国際法の規則を法典化し，明確にした条約。外交使節団の任務，使節団の特権および管轄権からの免除，外交官の特権，免除などについて定められている。国連国際法委員会は，1954年から審議を開始し，58年に最終案を作成した。 61年3月2日から 81ヵ国が参加してウィーンで外交関係会議が開催され，審議の結果，4月 18日にこの条約が採択された。 64年4月4日発効。
