Background noise

Japanese: 暗騒音 - あんそうおん

The total noise other than the target noise that occurs in the surrounding environment of the target noise. When measuring noise, if the difference between the noise volume when the target noise is occurring and the noise volume when it is not occurring (background noise) is 10 phon or more, it is considered that there is no effect from the background noise. Also, if the difference is 2 phon or less, the target noise is considered to be smaller than the background noise. (→Environmental noise)

対象とする騒音の周辺環境に発生している対象騒音以外の総体的騒音。騒音の測定に際し，対象騒音が発生しているときの騒音量と，発生していないときの騒音量 (暗騒音) との差が，10ホン以上あるときは，暗騒音による影響はないとされる。また，2ホン以下の場合は，対象騒音が暗騒音より小さいとされる。 (→環境騒音 )
