Thelodus

This fish belongs to the family Therododontidae in the subclass Pterotophore of the class Agnatha, and lived from the middle Silurian to the early Devonian periods of the Paleozoic era. Its body length is approximately 18cm. It is known that its body was covered with small scales, but its internal structure is largely unknown. There are protrusions on both sides of the rear of the head, which are thought to have served as stabilizing plates. 無顎綱翼甲亜綱テローダス科に属する魚類で，古生代のシルル紀中期からデボン紀初期にかけて生息した。体長は約18cmである。体は小さなうろこで覆われていたことが判明しているが，その内部構造はほとんど不明である。頭部の後方の両側に突出部があるが，これは安定板の役目をしたと考えられている。体は全体として縦扁(上下に押しつぶされて平らになったような形)しており，尾びれは異尾であった。無顎類【上野輝弥】
