1873‐97 A French saint and Carmelite nun, her real name was Thérèse Martin. She was also known as Thérèse de l'Enfant‐Jésus et de la Sainte‐Face. Born as the youngest daughter of a wealthy jeweller, she showed a strong attachment to her family from an early age and a tendency to immerse herself in her inner self. In 1888, she followed her two older sisters into the Carmelite convent in Lisieux. She led an unremarkable life of prayer and contemplation, and was devoted to a devotion that she called the "Little Way", combining the simplicity of a child with the acceptance of heroic sacrifice.
