A Florentine Renaissance scribe who produced many beautiful manuscripts for the Medici, Este, Federico da Montefeltro, and Matthias I Corvinus, the Hungarian king. From 1440 to 1480, his workshop was the literary center of Florence. However, the demand for manuscripts decreased with the development of printing, so he retired to a rural area near Florence and wrote Le vite, a series of biographies of famous people, both secular and religious, whom he had come into contact with.

ルネサンス期フィレンツェの写本製作者。有名な集書家であったメディチ家，エステ家，フェデリコ･ダ･モンテフェルトロ，ハンガリー王マーチャーシュ1世コルビヌスなどのために多数の美しい写本を作成した。1440年から80年までその工房はフィレンツェにおける文学の中心であった。しかし印刷術の発達によって写本の需要が減少したためにフィレンツェ近郊の農村に引退し，彼が知り合った聖俗の有名人の列伝Le viteを執筆した。
