Collection of works by the regent Ichijo - Ichijo Sessho Gyoshu

This is a private collection of poems by Fujiwara no Koretada from the mid-Heian period. The only copy handed down is from the Masuda family collection, and it contains 194 poems. The first 41 poems, which begin with the famous "Aware tomo iu beru hito omoe de mi no tsutsuranarinuru ka kana" from "Hyakunin Isshu," are in the style of a love story entrusted to a low-ranking official named Kurahashi Toyokage, the Okura no Shisho. It has been noted as a unique work that is placed in the lineage of song stories that succeed "Ise Monogatari" and "Heichu Monogatari," and is highly likely to have been selected by Koretada himself in his later years. From 42 onwards, it seems to have been selected by others, and is a chaotic collection of love poems exchanged. The last two poems are supplementary poems from "Shui Wakashu."

藤原伊尹(これただ)の詠歌を収めた平安中期の私家集。益田家旧蔵本が唯一の写本として伝わり、194首よりなる。『百人一首』で有名な「あはれともいふべき人は思ほえで身のいたづらになりぬべきかな」で始まる冒頭から41首までは、大蔵史生(おおくらのししょう)倉橋豊蔭(くらはしのとよかげ)という下級官人に託した恋物語風になっており、『伊勢(いせ)物語』や『平中(へいちゅう)物語』を継承する歌物語の系譜のなかに位置づけされる異色の作品として注目され、伊尹晩年の自撰(じせん)の可能性が大きい。42首以後は他撰らしく、やはり恋の贈答歌が雑然と集成されている。巻末2首は『拾遺和歌集』からの補歌である。
