Mount Teine

This mountain is located on the border between Nishi-ku and Teine-ku in Sapporo. It is 1,024 meters above sea level. It is one of the old volcanic belts of the Shiribeshi Volcano Group, and erosion has progressed, resulting in many slopes of varying degrees. At the 1972 Sapporo Olympics, it was the venue for skiing events such as the giant slalom. The facilities from that time are utilized, and courses for beginners and advanced levels are available. There is a road to the summit, where broadcasting stations for various broadcasting stations have been installed. There is a general leisure land near the foot of the mountain, and the swimming pool and golf course are used by local residents. There was once a mine owned by Mitsubishi Metals Co., Ltd., which produced gold, silver, copper, etc., but it closed in 1971. Currently, housing is being developed up to the foot of the mountain.

札幌市西区と手稲区の境界にある山。標高1024メートル。後志火山群(しりべしかざんぐん)の古い火山帯の一つで、侵食が進み緩急の斜面が多い。1972年（昭和47）の札幌オリンピックでは大回転などのスキー競技会場になった。当時の施設が生かされ、上級から初級までのコースが開かれている。山頂までの自動車道があり、頂上には各局の放送発信所が設置されている。山麓(さんろく)近くには総合レジャーランドがあり、プール、ゴルフ場が市民に利用されている。かつて三菱(みつびし)金属（株）の鉱山があり、金、銀、銅などを産出したが、1971年に閉山。現在、山麓近くまで住宅化が進んでいる。
