Saltoro Kangri Mountain (English name)

Japanese: サルトロ･カンリ[山]（英語表記）Saltoro Kangri

It is the main peak of the Saltoro Range, which runs from northwest to southeast slightly east of the center of the Karakoram mountain range. It is 7,742m above sea level. To the northwest of this is Peak II (7,705m). On the northeast side is Peak 36 Glacier, which flows into the Siachen Glacier, and on the southwest side is the Sherpigan Glacier. In 1911, the Americans Mr and Mrs Workman approached it, and in 1935, a British climbing team attempted to climb it. On July 24, 1987, a joint expedition from the Kyoto University Alumni Alpine Club (led by Shidei Tsunahiko) and a Pakistani team made the first ascent from the east face. [Sakai Toshiaki]
