A mountain in the southwest of Costa Rica. It is the highest peak in the country. It is 3,819m above sea level. It is located almost in the center of the Talamanca Mountains, which run from northwest to southeast across the southern part of Costa Rica and form the watershed between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, and is located 70km southeast of San Jose. At the southern foot of the mountain is the long and narrow General Basin, which was opened in 1962 by the Inter-American Highway and is currently being developed.
