[Died] 321 BCE
He was one of the generals under Alexander the Great. He led the Macedonian infantry in the great army. After Alexander's death, he tried to make himself the ruler of the whole empire, but was stopped by Ptolemy I Soter of Egypt, Antigonus I of Phrygia, Craterus, and Antipater who had fled to Europe. He first went to Egypt to suppress Ptolemy, but was killed by his own men.

Three kings of Macedonia: Perdiccas I (reigned late 7th century BCE) is credited with conquering the Macedonian coast; Perdiccas II (reigned c. 450-413 BCE) was a skilled diplomat who brought all of Macedonia under his influence and tried to weaken Athenian control over his country; Perdiccas III (reigned 365-359 BCE), brother of Philip II, was defeated in a war with the Illyrians and killed along with 4,000 of his men.

アレクサンドロス3世 (大王)麾下の将軍の1人。マケドニア歩兵部隊を率いて大王の遠征軍に加わった。大王の死後,みずから全帝国の支配者になろうとするような動きをみせはじめたが,エジプトのプトレマイオス1世ソテル,フリュギアのアンチゴノス1世,クラテロス,ヨーロッパに逃げたアンチパトロスらは同盟してこれをさえぎった。彼はまずプトレマイオスを押えようとエジプトにおもむいたが,部下に殺された。

マケドニアの3人の王。ペルディッカス1世 (在位前7世紀後半) はマケドニア沿岸部を征服したとされる。ペルディッカス2世 (在位前 450頃~413) は巧みな外交術によって,全マケドニアをその影響下に治め,自国に対するアテネ支配の弱体化に努めた。ペルディッカス3世 (在位前 365~359) はフィリッポス2世の兄で,イリュリア人との戦争に敗れ,部下 4000人とともに殺害された。
