A collection of 11 volumes from the late Kamakura period. It is believed to have been compiled around the Bun'ei and Koan periods (1264-1288). One theory is that the editor was Shaku Yoshitane, but the identity is unknown. This encyclopedic book uses a question-and-answer format to explain the origins of things, the meanings and etymologies of words, and the origins of the readings and readings of characters. It contains over 620 articles, categorized into 24 sections: heavenly phenomena, deities, various provinces, the Imperial Court, earthly rituals, plants, grasses, birds, beasts, insects, human ethics, the human body, human affairs, Buddhist affairs, treasures, clothing, musical instruments, miscellaneous matters, food and drink, numbers, main texts, taboos, words, and double characters. The explanations are relatively modest, with references to many sources such as the Fudoki and Wamyō Ruijushō, and it is also noteworthy as a language resource, as it includes descriptions of slang, eastern dialects, and accents. It influenced later works such as "Ai Fukusho," "Jinzo Ai Fukusho," "Gegakushu," and "Setsuyoshu." Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
